About Eric and Linda

As the piano SIDE BY SIDE, Eric Street and Linda Stornmont Newfield have played hundreds of concerts in America and successfully toured six continents. SIDE BY SIDE has given concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Cairo, Salzburg, Brussels, Florence, London, Dublin, Vienna and Paris. The duo has been telecast in America, Russia, Slovakia, and Egypt. Their school and community concerts are underwritten by the Ohio Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. SIDE BY SIDE has toured Europe, Central Asia, South America and Africa with the help of the United States Information Agency. In his review of their 1994 Egyptian debut, Gil Sherman, Cutural Attache of the American Embassy in Cairo, called Linda and Eric "superb, true artistic ambassadors" . This past season the duo has given concerts in the Unitaed States, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, and Italy. They look forward to further performances in Asia, India and Australia this December.



Eric Street has won acclaim for numerous solo and chamber recitals around the world. In 1990 he played twelve recitals in Japan, where his Tokyo review stated "the whole performance was wonderful and captivated the audience". His Carnegie Recital Hall debut brought him a standing ovation. He has recently performed in Salzburg, Prague, Berlin, Rome, and Paris, and his first trio CD was pressed this year. Eric earned his doctorate in piano with Menahem Pressler at Indian University. He has taught at Bethany College, Indiana University, the University of Californai at Santa Barbara, and now directs keyboard studies at the University of Dayton.


Linda Stornmont Newfield holds a Master in Music Performance from the University of Kansas. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Germany and did further graduate study in Aspen, at the University of Colorado, and the State University of New York. She is a piano faculty member in the Bethany College Music Department. Linda is President of the Sandzen Gallery Board of Directors in Lindsborg and performs frequently with the Gallery trio.
